Welcome to 2019!
Normally the beginning of the calendar year is a great time to reflect on the previous year and plan for the year ahead. So here are my top 5 tips that I use within my business to get ready for 2019.
1. Set business goals! (they don’t all need to be financial goals either)
Personally I like to set short term goals at 3 months, midterm goals at 12 months and longer term goals at + 3-5 years. Keep these goals somewhere visual so that you can revisit them from time to time.
2. Have a Plan to Achieve them!
How do you plan to reach these goals for your business? What works for me is mapping out all the areas of my business i.e. marketing, compliance, administration & then finding more opportunities to run my business more efficiently or better.
3. Review your Business Budget!
Great time to rehash operating costs of the business. Did fuel & electricity prices increase in 2018? What capital do you require for any expansions or acquisitions in 2019? There are plenty of free budget templets online or perhaps you may need to speak with your bookkeeper or accountant to formulate a more in-depth one.
4. Get Up to Speed with What’s Happening in your Industry!
Understand it! Get familiar with any changes in the economy that might impact your industry, new opportunities and/or changes in legislation that might impact you. Talk to industry people about the current market. I personally find the more you know about your industry the better chance you have of being able to identify new opportunities that will positively impact your business or prepare yourself against hidden surprises.
5. Go easy on yourself!
Business can be tough at times & things don’t always go to plan, you might need to readjust your goals based on circumstances. Try and find time to have balance in your life.
Have a great start to 2019 & I look forward to speaking with you soon.
